What is a tiny home? Why should I buy one?
A Tiny Home is a moveable dwelling constructed on a trailer and suitable for transporting. It is suitable for residential use with self-contained amenities – such as a kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and bedroom(s). Tiny Homes also typically come with options to be either connected to the grid or off-the-grid living.
There are a whole host of great reasons to look at investing in a tiny home, including:
- Providing an additional dwelling or space (or multiple dwellings in some cases)
- As an alternative to a Granny Flat
- To provide Rental or Short Term Holiday accommodation
- Provide housing for family or friends (especially for people displaced)
- A great work from home or office space
- Entertaining purposes
Can I travel in my tiny home?
This is not recommended. Caravans are built for regular travel – Tiny Homes are not due to their height and weight. They are built to be moved less often and normally most standard motor vehicles are not licensed to move them.
However, you can definitely move them to other locations for a host of reasons. You might move home, look to have them on a different site for a holiday or second home, or want to sell them to someone else. Should you need someone to move them, costs start at about $4/km.
